The Emergency Department of Azerbaijan Hospital in Urmia operates 24 hours a day with a highly skilled and experienced team, including on-call specialists in general surgery, cardiology, and anesthesiology, as well as general emergency physicians, emergency medicine specialists, trained nurses, and efficient support staff. Services are provided in accordance with scientific principles and international emergency care standards.

The department is equipped with the following dedicated services and facilities:

  • General, surgical, cardiac, isolation, radiology, casting, and advanced adult, pediatric, and neonatal cardiopulmonary resuscitation areas
  • Separate triage space for patient prioritization
  • Examination rooms
  • Dressing rooms
  • Minor operating room for outpatient and emergency procedures
  • Full support from on-call specialists and subspecialists throughout the hospital

Key equipment available in the Emergency Department includes:

  • Defibrillator
  • Ventilator
  • Multi-parameter monitoring with ECG, BP, SpO₂, HR, and RR display
  • Portable monitor
  • Adult and pediatric pulse oximeters
  • Perfusor (infusion pump)
  • Blood warmer
  • Long and short backboards for spinal injury and trauma patients
  • Electrocardiograph machine (capable of recording ECG for adults, children, and neonates)
  • Portable radiography unit dedicated to the emergency department
  • CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) trolleys
  • Central and portable suction and oxygen systems
  • Central Nurse Call system
  • PACS system for viewing MRI, CT scans, ultrasonography, and plain radiographs

Additional features of the Emergency Department:

  • Direct adjacency to the laboratory and paraclinical units (radiology, CT scan, etc.)
  • All obstetric and gynecologic patients are transferred directly from the emergency department to the labor and delivery ward
  • Fully equipped 24-hour pharmacy located within the department
  • Medical equipment unit ensures that no patient needs to obtain required devices or medications from outside the hospital

The department is divided into two separate areas: one for outpatient services and one for inpatient observation and admission, with 15 standard observation beds equipped with central suction and oxygen. Patients presenting with poisoning symptoms are also admitted and managed in this section. The triage unit is equipped with three standard beds and necessary monitoring devices.

Services provided in the Azerbaijan Hospital Emergency Department include:

  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • Stabilization of patients until their general condition is stable
  • Initial diagnostic and therapeutic interventions until admission or transfer
  • Observation and short-term care for patients with acute conditions requiring temporary monitoring (e.g., seizures, gastroenteritis, trauma)
  • Fluid therapy (oral or intravenous)
